Why my brother-in-law, Jason Colby, blogs

I admit this answer is a little outside my previous lane of Coast Guard, reporters, and self proclaimed social media gurus; today’s answer to Why do you blog? comes from my brother-in-law, Jason Colby. He does is blogging on his personal site, which is cleverly self titled, Jason Colby’s Blog. I wanted his take on the question as he’s a good writer and I was trying to prime him to Continue reading…

New Years Eve and Birthdays remind us of what's good

This might be considered cheating but hey- I work tomorrow morning and we’re all wore out as we celebrated another year of keeping our oldest daughter on track to having another birthday! It was a great day- it’s great to have a yearly reminder of why we do the things we do in life. Anyways- I hope you all have a very wonderful New Year; you’re able to keep up Continue reading…

The Erickson Christmas 2009 is in full swing

The morning portion of Christmas 2009 is almost done and the girls seem to be very happy with fruits of their attempts at being good all year. Merry Christmas to all of our family, friends, and those who are just passing through. And if you’re on Facebook you’ll be able to see these same photos there as well. Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Erickson family

This is one of our favorite times of the year- a time to revel in how lucky we really are and a time to reflect on how the year has been with family. Though I’m working today (getting off just in time for dinner) I wish the rest of you, either on duty or not, a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your family get-together goes well and your spirits are Continue reading…

A little pre-Christmas Holiday preparation seems to have drained ‘em

Busy day preparing for the Christmas holiday… we, plus Grandma, made our way down to the Outer Banks (OBX) area to both The Christmas Mouse and The Christmas House. The girls, well two out of three, seemed to have wore themselves out.

Preparing for Halloween 2009

We’re in full swing preparing for this years Halloween festivities… We all went “pumpkin shopping” about a week ago (much more enjoyable than last year) and tonight we put together out first Halloween house. For the last few years we’ve done the Christmas Gingerbread House thing but this is our first Hallows-Eve one; it was messy- but that was expected. I’ll put some photos up after the 31st with all Continue reading…
