It’s October

Well, actually, it’s October 9th, so I’m a little late. Nonetheless, I bring this great shot to you as a reminder of the month. This is Asia and Liberty at the pumpkin patch. Baby Lena is clinging on to mom so she wasn’t available for a photo.

When they look up to them

There’s an unwritten rule of hierarchy in a house with more than one child. It may seem painfully obvious to most, without ever even seeing it, that a child with an older or younger sibling would no-doubt lead or follow. I admit I hadn’t really paid attention to the truth of it other than spouting the occasional "make sure you set a good example" to our children. Children tend to stick by the unwritten rule Read more…

The butterfly and an effect

This wonder was sitting outside the house this morning when I got back from the store. He just stayed there as if he was posing for a photo; as soon as I was done he flew off. He’s a Canadian Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, and we/I know it’s a male as noted by the four black "tiger stripes" on each forewing. Not bad for a "right place, right time" photo, ‘eh? The original was edited with Read more…

I went to Finland. I took some photos.

And I want to go back. I had the opportunity to go to Finland for work, visiting both Turku and Helsinki. Over the course of two weeks, returning a week ago today, I visited the Nagu Coast Guard Station in the western archipelago and took a ride on some of their toys while also getting to see a spectacular sunset. A ride on the Super Puma helo was quite nice, seeing the area from the Read more…

A Google made panoramic turned my daughter into The Flash!

Tech makes for some fund times… I love Google Photos. The backing up, the editing, and the fun thing it/they can do is great. They’re starting to make panoramic photos out of stills and sometimes the results can be awesome. Case in point here’s three photos Google joined together which put my daughter all over the place in a matter of seconds… she’s fast, but not quite Flash fast.

Painting their own toys

Besides, painting is more fun… and of course dirty. A few weeks ago Lena, Jack, and Ellie got some painting practice coloring some wooden toys they’d gotten at the store. I fully admit they actually turned out better than I thought they would… but they took a few days to dry.

The Solar System to Scale

Published on Sep 16, 2015, and filmed on a dry lakebed in Nevada, a group of friends built the first scale model of the solar system with complete planetary orbits: a true illustration of our place in the universe. Science is awesome, isn’t it?

It’s definitely not too early for a political post…

I noticed the below video in my YouTube feed yesterday and had a chance to watch it this morning. And it got me thinking, it definitely not too early to prep for the next election. Most think it’s the every four-year election the counts as it pertains to the Office of the President. However, they/you’d be wrong. If this last election (2016) has taught the American public anything it was this; "We, the people, don’t have Read more…

Making Tiny Origami Cranes

My wife was sent a link to a post on BoredPanda about creating tiny origami cranes and shared it with our daughter Asia. And that’s all it took to get her gears turning and fingers moving to see if she could create her own "tiny origami cranes." Well, she could, and did. (Though she thinks it’s cheating when using tweezers. I still think it’s cool!) ^ This is a standard 2×4 Lego brick and that, Read more…
