Today is less of a family photo and more of a lifestyle photo. And by lifestyle I mean, it’s what we keep track of here on the mid-Atlantic seaboard ’cause it can really mess with your lifestyle: hurricanes.

Though it’s not yet the official hurricane season, which actually runs from 1 June through 30 November, today we had our first named tropical storm.

My day-to-day job in the Coast Guard is easily summed up as waiting for bad things to happen (e.g. hurricanes). In the offseason, I work on search and rescue policy and the likes. So today, though againe not quite the season, begins the season!
