If you figured out your external IP and forwarded it to your house, configured your router to port forward Port 80 to your Raspberry Pi you should have been greeted with the WordPress Install pages starting with the language selection and then your database info,

The first three block should have been easy… you created them. The last two I usually leave alone. There’s no need to change these. After you hit submit you’ll get your page confirming you’re good and you should end up with something like:

And there we have one of our pages. If you indeed added two sites then you’d have to visit each of them to do the process (I’m sure that goes without saying…).From here it’s just a matter of maintenance. I personally try to limit the number of plugins I use, however, I always use a caching plugin to help limit the load on my RPi (is use WP Super Cache for the moment).

Thanks for this great guide Ryan. I have only a problem: I’m using apache on raspberry pi, with Nextcloud and WordPress. Could I try to remove Apache and install nginx?

Mario, thanks for the kind words. It’s great timing; I have working Nextcloud install project going at this time (with a write up coming soon). I tried to to an Apache and Nginx install on the same server it couldn’t get it to work. I ended up putting my sites on one RPi and Nextcloud on another (I used NextcloudPi). You can install Nextcloud on Nginx but I’m not sure if you can “move” it. I’ve used this (https://www.c-rieger.de/nextcloud-installation-guide/) as a guide, and it works, but I didn’t try to put WordPress and Nextcloud on the same server.

Mario, I’m updating this comment. I’ve moved away from using NextCloudPi to the other one I mentioned from C-Reiger. The NextCloudPi image, though packed full of features, is uber slow on my pi/networkd. I’m using the Nginx install mentioned below an it’s working great.
