Making Tiny Origami Cranes

My wife was sent a link to a post on BoredPanda about creating tiny origami cranes and shared it with our daughter Asia. And that’s all it took to get her gears turning and fingers moving to see if she could create her own “tiny origami cranes.” Well, she could, and did. (Though she thinks it’s cheating when using tweezers. I still think it’s cool!) ^ This is a standard 2×4 Lego brick and that, Read more…

If Darth Vader wrote a Coast Guard OER

So what if the baddest of the baddies in the Star Wars universe had to write an OER? Well, someone out there took a guess… here’s a portion of the text: Skillfully planned massive effort for successful T&E of only known Death Star in the galaxy, selected planet, arranged logistics for viewing by multiple parties of interest & personally briefed Galactic Empire Emperor (GEE) on results; received anticipated response from Rebel Alliance, device to be Read more…

DIY Halloween Costume: Rosie the Riveter

As is usual, my wife finds the costume for the kids, and I’m tasked with putting it together. We based our design on this costume found on Whipper Berry last year. Oddly enough I had no idea that the image I was shown was actually from a how-to until I looked for Read more…

DIY Halloween Costume: Flowing Jellyfish

This year was an odd year for us as we not only went ahead and decided to try a do-it-yourself costume, we, in fact, made two! This one, the Jellyfish, and another, Rosie the Riveter. My wife found a few jellyfish costumes for me to look at to get this done but since I couldn’t find a good “how-to” post, I thought I’d write a quick one. This isn’t going to be too in-depth, but Read more…
